A setup key can generate future codes. Keep it private, just as you would a password.
Need a hand?Use the correct counter
Enter the counter expected by your account or test implementation. Increasing it without signing in may move your generator ahead of the service. Do not guess repeatedly on a live account.
HOTP or TOTP?
If your authenticator displays a timer and changes its code automatically, you probably need the TOTP tool instead. Check the original setup instructions when you are unsure.
Limits of this tool
Generating a code does not advance a remote service’s counter. This page cannot check an account’s counter or reset its authentication settings.
